The Battle Over America

Since the creation of man there has been a continual battle between light and darkness, between good and evil, between the wicked and the righteous. This spiritual battle continues to rage over our nation.

For some years now the wicked have been ruling this nation, and the righteous have mourned and wondered if our nation was lost for good. Throughout this past year God’s people have awakened from their slumber and lifted their voices — repenting and praying for revival. God heard our prayers and divinely intervened for His people in the elections.

As we watched the drama of election night it was clear that there was a spiritual battle for this nation. That evening we witnessed the power of prayer. This political victory, for which we thank God, should not cause us to take our ease but rather to continue what we have begun — drawing near to God in repentance, praying for a national revival. This political victory is not the answer for America! It is a blessing but not the answer. This election is only temporary.

We have each prayed and interceded because we know that no man or political party can save us. Only God’s divine intervention can save America because He alone can change the hearts of men. Only a revival will stop the judgement of God on our nation.

Recently there were wildfires that devastated the Gatlinburg, TN area killing at least 14 people, injuring over 150 more, and damaging over 2,000 buildings. As the Dollywood Theme Parks were being cleaned up after the fire, a burned piece of a page from the Bible was discovered amidst the carnage left behind. The page is from the book of Joel and contains verses that speak about the end times when God will send fire to destroy and punish the world. Destruction by fire is a recurring theme in the book of Joel and led the man who discovered the page Isaac McCord to reexamine his otherwise unreligious life. McCord says that finding the page shocked him, and moved him so much that he is still unable to describe his feelings accurately.

The page was found under a bench, soggy in a puddle of water. McCord, who had no idea what the two pieces of paper contained, said that he got “goosebumps” when he read the verses that were still legible. The verses were so relevant to the tragedy that he and his co-worker Misty Carver simply burst into tears and started praying. Other employees of Dollywood, Kimberley Moore and wardrobe manager Angela Davis confirmed the story.

Psalms 85:4, 6-7 “Restore us, O God of our salvation, and cause Your anger toward us to cease… Will you not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? Show us Your mercy, Lord, and grant us Your salvation.

In this election we witnessed the power of prayer, and if we His people continue to humble ourselves and pray, turning from our wicked ways, He will heal our land! We must continue to seek Him with fervor that God would once again make us that shining city upon the hill.

If we continue to seek Him, our land shall be filled with truth and righteousness, and glory will dwell in this land!
