In Mark 9, Jesus said, “All things are possible to him who believes,” and in Mark 10 he said, “For with God all things are possible.” God can do anything! And God has chosen prayer as a method of accomplishing great things.

A.W. Tozer once said, “Prayer unites God and the praying man in one and says God is omnipotent and the praying man is omnipotent (for the time being) because he is in touch with omnipotence. Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may find mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Let us come boldly. We should come humbly but no man should be so humble that he doesn't ask. We should be humble but we should dare to ask, seek and knock. There must be expectation. One of the greatest snares in praying is to pray vaguely.”

Throughout history, men and woman who understood this concept, altered world events through their prayers. Two such men were Rees Howells and his son Samuel.

A Reward for Diligence Part 2

This Thursday, May 4th, is the National Day of Prayer. The motto this year is,

"Hear Us... Forgive Us... Heal Us ...For Your Great Name’s Sake!"

This was Daniel’s prayer. Daniel was an intercessor during a time of great captivity, and his diligence in intercession was greatly rewarded.

Mordecai was another intercessor in Scripture who was greatly rewarded for his labors. When we read the book of Esther, it is easy to focus on her story, but Mordecai was the one who first began interceding when he saw the plans of the wicked to destroy God’s people, and he was the one who influenced Esther to go before the King.

Our Prayer

Lord, light again the sacred flame of Holy Ghost revival fire,
He who at Pentecost then came is He Whom we so much desire.
We need Him in our midst today; Oh, send Him to us while we pray.

Revival is Your work, O God; Tis for revival that we plead!
Spread holy flames of fire abroad and meet Your people's deepest need.
Oh, send the Spirit's holy power upon our waiting hearts this hour.

We need the Spirit to convict and bring once more the sense of sin.
May sinners feel their conscience pricked
And see how far from God they've been.
With Holy Ghost conviction seize till sinners fall upon their knees.

The Battle Over America

Since the creation of man there has been a continual battle between light and darkness, between good and evil, between the wicked and the righteous. This spiritual battle continues to rage over our nation.

For some years now the wicked have been ruling this nation, and the righteous have mourned and wondered if our nation was lost for good. Throughout this past year God’s people have awakened from their slumber and lifted their voices — repenting and praying for revival. God heard our prayers and divinely intervened for His people in the elections.

As we watched the drama of election night it was clear that there was a spiritual battle for this nation. That evening we witnessed the power of prayer. This political victory, for which we thank God, should not cause us to take our ease but rather to continue what we have begun — drawing near to God in repentance, praying for a national revival. This political victory is not the answer for America! It is a blessing but not the answer. This election is only temporary.

And whatsoever ye shall ask in My Name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in My Name, I will do it (John 14:13, 14)
Call unto Me and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not (Jeremiah 33:3)
Prayer does not release some mere force of man or nature. Prayer releases the immeasurable wealth and power of the Almighty God!  "Call unto Me and I will answer thee and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not" (Jer 33:3). There you have it. It is the voice of God!

1 Chronicles 21:1 says, “And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.” David was a God-fearing king, a man after God’s own heart, yet there was a time in his reign that he succumbed to the principalities and the powers of darkness in heavenly places. Because of David’s action judgment fell on the people of Israel and 70,000 men died. One wrong decision from one man brought great suffering to the people under him.
It is vital that we pray for both our political and spiritual leaders because the decisions they make affect us for good or for bad.
Today America is a divided nation because of past decisions that have been made by our leaders, both politically and spiritually. When spiritual leaders fail, the church suffers; and when the church suffers, our nation suffers.
In 2 Chronicles 6 we find Solomon's prayer as he is before the Lord and before the people.

Lord, how can a sick church help a dying world?

In a recent APN prayer meeting a pastor prayed, “Lord, how can a sick church help a dying world? It’s not possible, Lord… but You can heal us and then we can help save the dying world.” The church in America is sick which is why we have had no power to help our dying nation. Regardless of what church or denomination we belong to, we are all apart of this sick body. BUT each one of us also has a part in the healing of this body.

We are like the man in the parable of Luke 10 who was beaten, robbed, and left dying on the Jericho road. We desperately need our God to pass by and pour in the wine and the oil and raise us up!

Turning to the Lord

On Wednesday, October 12th at 12:00 p.m there will be a rally with Franklin Graham on the State Capitol grounds. This will be a gathering to repent and pray for revival in our state and nation.
Franklin Graham has a vision that carries him to the capital of every state of our land sharing that there is no hope in any political party but that our only hope is in God! He realizes, as many others do, that our nation is in trouble and that God is calling His people to turn to Him, humble themselves, repent, and seek His face. For this reason Franklin has been calling God’s people across this nation to gather together to pray and repent.
Israel gathered at the sound of the trumpet, and we gather to pray by the calling of the Holy Spirit to each one of us. Many see that we are in great need, not only as a nation but also as God’s people.
Like Israel we have sinned against God, and He has been displeased with us. As a result of our sin He has sent us affliction.
But just as in the days of Israel, God has raised up those, like Franklin Graham who are crying out for God’s people to repent so He can deliver us

“Our nation is in trouble, and our only hope is in God!”

A few weeks ago we gathered on the Capitol grounds to repent for our sins and to pray that God’s favor would once again be upon our nation and that He would save us. As Franklin Graham said, “Our nation is in trouble, and our only hope is in God!”

Our nation is in trouble because we have sinned against God and rejected Him. He has lifted His hand of blessing, but still our hope is in Him because we know He is a merciful God that can forgive us if we repent and cry out to Him. He can save us!

Blessed are they...that seek Him with the whole heart

We have held more communion with man than with God!

We have given a greater prominence to man's writings, man's opinions, man's systems in our studies--than to the Word of God. ( Is 8:20; I Thess. 2:13)

We have drunk more out of human cisterns than divine.

We have not been men of prayer. The spirit of prayer has slumbered among us.

God is hearing the prayer of His people

Before Thanksgiving I was reminded of the ten lepers that Jesus healed in Luke 17. All ten lepers cried out for mercy and were rewarded with a miracle, yet only one came back to Jesus in thanksgiving for what He had done. This story shows us that most do not spend time giving thanks for all the blessings they have received. I hope that every one of us is as that one man who returned to thank the Lord. When God's people pray and God answers, He is worthy to be thanked and praised.
One of the answers to prayer that I want to thank the Lord for is that though the Progressives spent one billion dollars on the Virginia election, they did not succeed in empowering the governor to further his liberal agenda.
Our prayers were answered as well in Senator Dick Black's re-election. He was outspent by his opponent 3 to 1, yet he held his seat. Money is not what will win elections but we have seen again it is the power of prayer. Granted not Every conservative in Virginia won but certainly God has heard our prayers.
We as a praying people are making history before the throne of God. God is hearing the prayers of His people, and He will do so much more as we continue in supplication with thanksgiving.
Phil 4:6, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."

Why Should We Pray?

Why should we pray?

The short answer is that God commands it. “Call upon me, and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3. Prayer is communication between us and our Heavenly Father.

Jesus said that men ought to pray. He chided his disciples for falling asleep instead of praying with Him. “What, could you not watch with me one hour?” Mark 14:37

Desperate times call for desperate prayer!

Desperate times call for desperate measures! For God’s people, desperate times call for desperate prayer. Now is the time to move the heart of God with desperate prayer and fasting. As Hollywood values and sodomy replace Christianity, we must turn to God. Our hope lies not in the White House, but in God’s house, and His house is filled with the prayers of His people.

We must humbly come before the throne of God who will always respond to our desperation. God delivered Esther and her people when they humbled themselves with fasting and prayer (Esther 4). He answered Elisha’s cry and gave resurrection life (2 Kings 4). When Hezekiah cried out, God gave him victory in battle (2 Chronicles 32). Blind Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus despite the scorn, and he received sight (Mark 10). Imagine if these ones had not cried out; they would not have experienced miraculous transformations!

Revival is Your work, O God;

We need the Spirit to empower,
To cleanse and fill and sanctify.
Send Him upon the Church this hour
Till all their Savior glorify.
Make holy love to overflow;
Set lives and faces aglow!

Oh, send revival once again;
Lord, set our spirits all aflame!
Reveal Your glory unto men;
Once more exalt Your Holy name!
Revival is our greatest need;
Oh, send the Holy Ghost we plead!

Why Pray?

Why Pray?

Some have said that America is lost, that there is no more hope. That there is no reason to pray. Is that true?

The United States of America was founded on Judeo Christian principles and has been considered a Christian nation for centuries.  Recently the President of the United States said we are no longer a Christian nation. Many were appalled when he said that. But the fact is we are now a back slidden nation.  God has blessed our nation throughout its history and His favor has always been upon us until recently. We turned our back on Him and now He has turned His face from us.
